Akyla Joseph is a licensed mental health counselor and clinician at the Complex Trauma Treatment Center in Boston. She obtained her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at William James College. Akyla has experience working in inpatient psychiatry, partial hospitalization, college counseling, and a non-profit organization supporting people with experience in commercial sex exploitation. She has also worked in community mental health settings providing trauma-informed in-home therapy to families throughout the greater Boston area.
Akyla recognizes the importance of the client-therapist relationship and provides an eclectic approach to working with each client. These approaches often include a combination of humanistic, psychodynamic, and other evidence-based interventions. Akyla specializes in working with underserved populations such as 1st and 2nd generation immigrants, and the military community. Akyla also has experience providing support for clients dealing with various issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, life transitions, and family dynamics.
